    Hey Paul, is this a sponsored video? Was the mount provided to you free of charge? Was it purchased with 100% of your money or was the mount partially (or fully refunded) via paypal or a giftcard after the video/review? There's a lot of poor reviews about this mount not handling the 57", particularly over time, as the tilt just fails and its pointing down - what have been your experiences thus far? There's even a post on amazon that shows the bottom part of the clamp not being broad/deep enough and literally just snapping off. Aside from your video review, I can't find any other reviews - and I'd imagine that a mount of this caliber would surely have garnered more interest and independant reviews such as yourself by now? I already own a Ergotron HX but that one allegedly doesn't support the 57"'s tilt function fully.

      Hi, With only 452 subscribers, I'm not sponsored and have never been given anything to review. I've bought everything with my own money and haven't returned anything. I'm using the monitor now - see today's BBC News website here as evidence imgur.com/a/kb4IFVl You will also see that I've added a 2nd monitor - Asus portable monitor which I have found to be essential for screen-sharing for my job. I'll do a video on this and how I use the monitor soon. Since I've had the arm, it literally hasn't moved a millimeter. I haven't made any adjustments to it at all, I'm still very happy with it. I think it's high quality and reasonably priced for what it is. The only thing I had to do was bolster my desk as it had thin metal at the rear, but that's not the fault of the arm. I explained this in the video.

      @@TechboyUK Thanks for the reply. Perhaps sponsored was the wrong word, I was more trying to ascertain if after you bought it, the company refunded/sent you a giftcard after your review. As I said, yours is the only review I see for this mount, not only on the 57" but, at all :D Is the monitor tilt angling downwards for you? Or do you have it perfectly flat/straight facing you? Thanks again :)

      @TechboyUK 4 дні тому

      @@TheRC2022I haven't had any communication from BEWISER, I didn't even buy it from them, I bought it from Amazon. Maybe I should reach out to them to see if they would like to send me something for review (on one of my other PC setups - e.g. dual monitor) but as I'm a small channel I doubt they would. The monitor is slightly tilting towards me (with the top closer than the bottom). This wasn't intentional, it was just when I first set it up. I keep meaning to adjust it, but haven't gotten around to it yet lol. I don't notice it in use. One thing I mentioned in my video, but I'll stress again here - you do need to tighten the Allen keys up very tight (by hand, with the supplied Allen key), but after doing so, it hasn't moved a mm 🙂

    Hi Paul (and apologies for any intrusion post our recent message exchanges). I've gone ahead and ordered the BEWISER S1020, so will look forward to using it! However...... my question is on the Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 itself. I recently purchased it, and what made me a little nervous, is that I didn't have any protection to remove from the front of the screen, but did have some protection to remove of the back of the screen - which is weird. I wonder if any fellow owners had the same packaging issues.... I'm nervous that my monitor isn't new.... (I'm now asking this question in pretty much all reviews / unboxing of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 57" - and might decide to send mine back!) Anyway, was wondering if you had a protective film that you had to remove - on the front of the screen - when you got yours. Be Well, and much obliged!

    • @TechboyUK
      @TechboyUK 19 днів тому

      Hey there, Message me all you want, I love taking tech! Congratulations on getting the monitor. My first one was faulty (clicking noises) but my 2nd has been perfect. So I've had 2 and I don't recall either having a film on the front, only on the back. Although it was a while ago now, so maybe I've just forgotten... 🤔 When I returned my first one, I asked Samsung support if I would get a reconditioned one, they said that I would receive a new one. What actually happened is that they were out of stock, so they gave me my money back and I had to buy a new one a couple of weeks later. For screen sharing, I've ordered a 15" Asus portable monitor. My 9" tablet worked, but it was too small. The region to share program is okay, but not great. Once I get the 15", I'll make a video on screen sharing and how I use the monitor.

      @@TechboyUK Fantastic Paul! Thank you as ever for taking time out to respond. You're a legend! On the monitor itself, I must admit, I've not had any troubles with it. One thing though - it looks like it had what I can only describe as "marks" - not visible to the eye - rather through pointing a flash light at the monitor when it is off - which look like were made by the packaging foam - strange! - but this had no effect on the screen - and all the tests I ran on it didn't demonstrate any issues. My Dell 5550 didn't deliver max resolution, but my desktop (w/ Nvidia A2000 12GB card) runs at full resolution @120Hz - due to Display Port 1.4 limitations. This is all fine as I'm not a gamer! I'll continue to keep an eye on your content as you've got excellent insights! Thank you once again.

    Hi Paul, Thank you for taking the time to review this product - I'm looking at getting the Samsung 57" and really didn't want to over do it with the Arm - so you've really helped me make a decision. Dare I ask, what's your view on the 57" behemoth? Are you content with it? I don't have an uber-powerful Graphics Card (i.e. 4090 etc etc), rather, I have laptops with dedicated GPUs and one workstation with an Nvidia A2000 (12GB) - not a gamer, just an engineer!

    • @TechboyUK
      @TechboyUK Місяць тому

      Previous to this monitor, I had 3 monitors. 3 monitors was nice, but this is better! For work, I'm Head of SAP Technical Services for a consultancy. This monitor is fantastic for productivity: - Working with wide spreadsheets (makes life much easier!) - Project planning (MS Project and Float) - Having 3 applications open at the same time (e.g. often MS Teams, Outlook and Chrome or Chrome, PDF and PowerPoint). I usually use is as 1, 2 or 3 virtual screens, not usually more than that (sometimes I do). The only issue is with screen-sharing. I've tried the 'Region to Share' app, but it's not ideal and it doesn't work with Google Meet (which the company I work for currently uses as their primary chat tool) - it does work with MS Teams. So I'm currently using a Galaxy Tab A9 LTE (with the SuperDisplay app on Android) which works well, but is too small, so I'm going to get a 16" portable display to have on the desk behind my keyboard, just for screen sharing. At the moment, I've only used it with my work laptop - a Lenovo Thinkbook, so not powerful and no dedicated video card. It's perfectly fine though! My personal laptop died last year and the battery isn't easy to replace, so I've been waiting for the Qualcomm Elite X based laptops to come out - which they have this week. I'm now considering getting one of the initial batch and an external graphics card (over Thunderbolt) or waiting for a laptop with a graphics card built in - for gaming. Although I don't get much time to game these days with 2 young kids... I keep meaning to make more videos on my setup and how I use it - I'll try to soon!

      @@TechboyUK You're an absolute legend Paul - thank you once again for taking the time to respond with great eloquence and knowledge. You're a credit to UA-cam in an age of well, the decline that comes with social media! On the use of the monitor it self, that's pretty much what I'd be looking to use it for it - i.e. productivity. I'm happy to hear that the laptop et al you use drive the monitor to, hopefully, the resolutions that you'd like / expect. Oh, may I add that once the kids get older, they'll be fighting to use this monitor I suspect, so you've been warned! 😆 Thank you again, and may you continue to make great content.

    How did you book the camp site. Did you tell them that you were going to sleep in your car?

    • @TechboyUK
      @TechboyUK 2 місяці тому

      The first campsite I tried was part of a large chain. Their booking form didn't have specific categories - none of which fitted sleeping in a car. So I called them and they said that sleeping in a car is not allowed on any of their sites... I don't know why, as they allow campervans and if you look on UA-cam, a lot of people sleep in cars in an organised manner. So I booked with another (independent) campsite where they had the option of a pitch with electricity, so I booked that for 1 night. The next day, I booked it again and the owner called me to confirm the booking, noting that I had just stayed there. I told him that I would be sleeping in my car, explaining that I had an inflatable mattress, curtains, etc. and he was fine with that.

For those checking electric supply is dead at the doorbell ALWAYS check on a live source with your volt pen first, then check to see the bell is dead, then check again on a live source. Seems OTT but it's to check the pen works and it hasn't failed between the live test and the dead test.

      There are battery versions of the Ring Doorbell if that's your preference. I think it's less hassle to set it up once and never have to change a battery and it didn't take long to install. The only installation difference additions for wired are 1) Screwing in the 2 cables behind the doorbell 2) Possible replacement of the transformer. A lot of people who watch this video are not technical so 'Category 5' makes more sense than 'Cat 5' 🙂 Both terms are commonly used in communications including technical documents, product listings, etc.
